A NOTE FROM TOM MESSINGER

Cardinals,

We are going to take another major step next week toward returning back to “normal.”  Next Monday (March 1, 2021) will be our first full Monday of onsite learning during the 2020 – 2021 school year.  We will be back in-person learning five days a week without early dismissals for the remainder of the year.  This will enable us to make up student instructional hours and avoid extending the end of the school year past June 4, 2021.  We will continue to follow our Return to Learn Plan and make adjustments where necessary.

The staff of the Newton Community School District would like to thank Becky Pryor (Jasper County Health Department) and Mark Thayer (Newton Clinic, PC) for coordinating COVID-19vaccinations for educators in our district.  Educators were placed in the second tierand as of February 23, 2021 all school employees who signed up for a vaccination have now received their first dose.

As we enter springtime, there will be many announcements coming about our events and activities - sports, concerts, graduation, and many others.  Please be sure to follow the district on social media and check the district calendar to keep up to date.  As always, we rely on your support.  It is true that Red Pride Lives Here!

Yours truly,

Tom Messinger
