The Newton Community School District (NCSD) is proud to offer families top-notch and best educational choices in Iowa.
We serve approximately 3,000 students (PreK - 12th Grades) enrolled in our seven schools:
Aurora Heights (K - 4)
Emerson Hough (K - 4)
Thomas Jefferson (PreK - 4)
Woodrow Wilson (K - 4)
Berg Middle School (5 - 8)

On this page, you will find everything you need to enroll and register your child into the Newton Community School District.
Families new to the Newton Community School District, or returning after being enrolled in another district, will need to come to the District Office to complete the registration process. Our District Office is located at the EJH Beard Administration Center - 1302 First Avenue West, Newton, Iowa.
This process includes filling out the online registration form and providing the following documentation:
Since our district is currently closed to the public, due to COVID-19, please contact Melinda Worthington, District Registrar, about registering new students. She will take student and family information and add it to a database of new families. As soon as our offices are able to open, we will contact families to set up an appointment to register.

The Newton Community Preschool is located at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School (112 Thomas Jefferson Drive). We offer programming for 3 and 4-year-old students in morning or afternoon sessions. Our staff takes pride in working hard to meet the needs of our preschool families!
If your child will be 3 or 4 years old on or before September 15, 2021 please complete and return an application (with required documents) to the Central Registrar's Office.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The following five documents must be submitted in order for an application to be considered complete.
Please submit your application materials to the District Office (EJH Beard Administration Center - 1302 1st Avenue West, Newton) or scan and email the documents to Melinda Robertson, Central Registrar (robertsonm@newtoncsd.org). Applications will NOT be accepted at any of the four elementary schools in the district.

Certificate of Dental Screening
All 9th Grade students are required to have a dental screening. Bring this form to your local dentist or orthodontist to fill out and sign after your appointment. Return the signed form to Newton High School during "Back to School Days" or to the high school main office.
