Cardinals,

The 2022-2023 school year is in full swing.  Students have returned to school, activities are under way, and Red Pride is everywhere.  The start to our school year has been a very exciting one and there is so much more to come.

This year we will enjoy our varsity Homecoming football game at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 16, 2022 at H.A. Lynn Stadium.  But that is not the only highlight of the week!  Cardinal Coronation will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the upper gym at NHS.  The parade will also be held on Thursday at 6:00 PM beginning at NHS, and ending with a big Pep Rally on the Courthouse lawn.  The finale to Thursday activities will be the High School Dodgeball tournament at NHS immediately following the parade.  The final event of Homecoming week will be the Cardinal Gala for our high school students at the NHS lower gym from 8:45 PM - 11:45 PM.  This is sure to be one of our most memorable times of the year for our entire Newton community.

While Homecoming is a very exciting time, it is not the only opportunity for students, families, community members, and staff members to get involved in our school district.  Throughout the year, our kids will have concerts, plays, ball games, wrestling, swim, track, and golf meets, and many other activities where our students will demonstrate their skills.  But, perhaps the most important events of our year are our Parent/Teacher Conferences.  This is an opportunity for all parents/caregivers to visit directly with our teachers about the progress of their students.  There will be more information to come on these events and they can also be found on our school calendar (www.newtoncsd.org).  Don’t miss out!

As we move forward with the 2022-2023 school year, I want to thank all of our staff members for choosing to be a Cardinal.  I want to let our community know that the support we receive from everyone is amazing.  And I want to tell all of our families that we are very grateful for you trusting us enough to send your students through our doors every day.  It is going to be a great year.  And as always, it is great to be a Cardinal where we are honest, caring, positive, fun, and supportive.

Yours truly,

 Tom Messinger, Superintendent

2022 School Kick Off Video!

Our Core Values were addressed at our Welcome Back Assembly to our staff for the 2022-23 school year. It is important that we appreciate our staff members and students exhibiting the core values, and set a good example for all in the District to continue learn and grow in Newton. Our Superintendent, Tom Messinger, addressed the staff and showcased some of our staff who show these Core Value everyday!

Back to School Assembly

We got the chance to celebrate with staff and administration at a Back to School Assembly this year before students returned. It was a great way to get excited, and remind us all the difference those in education make in students’ lives.

Welcome Back from Our Principals!

Enjoy a warm welcome from our principals of Newton Community School District and find out what they are looking forward to this coming school year.

New SNA Video:
School Meal Changes for SY2022-23

The new school year comes with changes to how students purchase or receive school meals—a change that might be confusing to families who are used to meals being available at no charge since March 2020.

To help in sharing this important information with your district's families, SNA has created a short video—available in both English and Spanish—that lays out these changes for SY2022-23.

We encourage you to share the videos via social media, your district's website, school newsletters and other methods of communications to ensure that families who must apply for free and reduced-price meals submit their applications as soon as possible.
