Basics & Beyond High School was established to provide an alternative educational environment for Newton High School students. Although the school is operated by NCSD, services are provided to Baxter, Bondurant, Colfax, Lynnville-Sully, and Pella students as well. The three areas of focus are academics, career development, and personal social with a strong emphasis on attendance. If students do not attend, they will be "laid off" for the trimester and credits will not be earned. The Basics & Beyond school year is broken up into trimesters (three twelve week terms) allowing students to earn 18 credits a year. Students grades 10-12 may attend.  School begins at 8:15 a.m. and is out at 3:08 p.m.
