PBIS Picnic and Super Bowl Sundaes earned by classes”

The AH PBIS Leadership team members challenged all classrooms to earn tickets toward a Super Bowl Sundae event by the display of good behavior.  Classes advanced on a hallway football field with a classroom designed helmet.  Each goal line attained added to the reward which started with an opportunity to eat a picnic lunch on a blanket in the cafeteria, added on an ice cream for level two, and for those making the 500 point end line goal, toppings were added on the sundae.  All classes earned at least some of the reward.  Students earn red Cardinal Code tickets when the entire classroom does well, while individual students earn white Cardinal Code tickets for individual recognition.

                                                                                                                                  March 1, 2011

Dear Families of Aurora Heights,

There are many events coming up that you will want to note.  Parent/Teacher conferences will be March 17th and 22nd in the late afternoons and evenings.  This is an important opportunity to share student progress with academic area skills.  Sixth graders are participating in DARE currently.  They will have a graduation in early April—-a date yet to be set.  Spring break will be March 23rd through the 27th.  It is also time for kindergarten round-up and our sixth graders will be participating in a Parent Orientation at the Middle School on March 31st.  It seems things spin quickly this time of year.

PTA is sponsoring a cookie dough fundraiser drive during the month of March for those students who wish to participate.  The goal is to continue to add playground features, such as additional basketball hoops.  We appreciate your support for our school.  Lifetouch spring pictures will be April 5th.  Another early April event will be the All Star Band Concert at AH on April 7th at 7:00 p.m.  Iowa Tests of Basic Skills are set for the week of April 18th this year.

We are offering After School Study Hall Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays for those students who can benefit from the extra help and time to complete homework.  Arrangements must be made through the classroom teacher and transportation provided by parents.  As a staff we are holding students to a high expectation for quality work completion in an effort to have all students reach their highest potential.  We appreciate your support in having your child here, ready to learn and willing to complete quality assignments.

All staff received an overview of Every Day Math and training on February 18th during the district in-service training.  Pilots continue to pave the way and all will be working to implement fully next school year.  I look forward to visiting with many of you during Parent/Teacher conferences.  Until next time,

Mrs. Farver
