Dear Parents of Aurora Heights Students,
It is with humility and a smile that I write this note. As I reflect on the school year 2010-2011 so far, a lot has happened. The journey to reorganization and becoming a 4th–6th school is now a reality. A lot of people worked very diligently to make that happen smoothly. Do I personally miss the K-6 students and staff? Of course! I miss the hugs and smiles of our very little ones each day and working with the old AH K-6 staff. But, I have been happy to learn that our new 4th—6th crew is equally awesome and genuinely devoted to the success of each student! I am amazed at the quality and PASSION of each staff member, in the quest to help our students meet with AYP (adequate yearly progress) as defined by NCLB (No Child Left Behind) and our collective desire this year to have at least 82% of ALL of our students meet proficiency guidelines as we move toward the NCLB 100% goal. And, it is a big challenge. The new AH 4th—6th staff is passionate about our children. We TEACH, we RETEACH, we ANALYZE, we DIFFERENTIATE, we REGROUP, we meet BEFORE SCHOOL, we meet AFTER SCHOOL, we enlist PARENTS, we TRY AGAIN….and we HOPE, all students will meet with an appropriate challenge and growth. We honestly strive each day to ensure that all students get what they need. In the end, if they have, we can truly CELEBRATE! If they haven’t quite made it yet, we know we have tried our best, but we will ANALYZE and REGROUP and TRY AGAIN with the help of you—our PARENTS, as we strive to prepare every child to meet with success in our 21st century school and world. THANK YOU for your part in helping us meet this goal. It does take all of us working together! We are getting closer to the end of the school year. ITBS is the 3rd week of April. This really is a BIG time for our school. Please help your child have a good attitude about testing, help him/her get a good night’s sleep, a good breakfast and make a REAL commitment to do his/her VERY best on the test. It is important to your child because of the pathway it begins to create and for him/her to know they have done their personal best. It is important to all of us because of how we are rated and judged by the state and NCLB. Our motto-Do Your Personal Best on ITBS!
Have an awesome spring!
Mrs. Farver, Principal |
