Understanding the block/half block schedule

The high school offers classes in four patterns; the academic planning handbook indicates the pattern for every class.  The four patterns are below:

  1. Block, 1 credit:  This class meets only one term (nine weeks) and meets for 90 minutes per day.  Examples would be PE and Foods.

  1. Block, 2 credits:  This class meets for two terms (eighteen weeks) and meets for 90 minutes per day. Examples would be Biology and Algebra I.

  1. Half block, 1 credit:  This class meets for two terms (eighteen weeks) and meets for 43 minutes per day.  Examples would be Speech and Health

  1. Half block, 2 credits: This class meets for four terms (full school year) and meets for 43 minutes per day.  Examples would be English I and Integrated Science
