Darren Corso |
Our May Kid of Character is AWESOME! If you want to know how to become a Kid of Character, study what this student does. Darren is a wonderful role model for all at Aurora Heights. He is respectful and caring, always concerned with the consequences of his actions. He is responsible and conscientious. He follows classroom and school rules and is very good at politely reminding others to do the same. He works to his greatest potential on all of his assignments and knows when it is time to try harder on his own and when it is appropriate to ask for additional assistance from his teachers. Adhering to the six pillars of character is very important to Darren and that makes him a true Kid of Character!
|
Alex Miller |
This sixth grader possesses all the pillars of good character, plus our Cardinal Code of Respect-Responsibility- and Safety. His classmates say that he is always trustworthy, helpful, and kind and does what he is suppose to do! He was nominated every month this year for the Kid of Character Award. He is a great role model for all of us to follow – so let’s congratulate……Alex Miller!!!
|
Bailey Davis |
The student I am nominating for my Kid of Character always shows the Cardinal Code while in PE class. She does her personal best on classroom activities. She also is respectful of others and her surroundings. Great job in physical education class this year Bailey Davis!
|
Lienne Pak |
| This student is a joy to have in the classroom. She is very respectful to the adults in our building, as well as her fellow students. She is always willing to help her teachers, and I can count on her to actively participate in class discussion. She excels at sharing her thoughts and ideas with the class. She is honest and she shows great respect for others and is a joy to have in the classroom |
Elaja Cupples |
Elaja has shown glimmers of great potential all year long. He has blown me away at times with how considerate and respectful he can be. The last few weeks, when others are giving up for the year, Elaja has put the pedal to the metal and is giving everything his best effort. Though we haven’t always seen eye to eye, I have always known that he had it in himself to be great. I encourage and challenge this young man to stay on the right track and make something great with his life.
|
Cael Kellogg |
Cael has demonstrated many times over the course of this year that he is a young man who believes in doing the right thing. I have seen him frustrated only twice this year and when this has happened he walked away from the situation and came back to talk about it when he was calm. That is a sign of a very respectful and responsible person.
Cael is a good sportsman. In the face of victory or defeat whether his opponent is a difficult math problem or on a wrestling mat, he does his best and I can always see the wheels turning in his head showing he is thinking of the best solution and what makes sense. That’s a sing of responsibility.
Cael is a good kid and being safe is a priority to him. If a situation is not safe he THINKS it through and finds a result that is safe and fair. That is a sign of someone who is caring.
Cael has shown brightly this year and his efforts show CARDINAL PRIDE through and through

Reed has shown great improvement in his willingness to do what is expected of him. He always has homework done and is willing to do extra if asked. Reed has come a long way toward being able to verbalize his frustrations and know that others can help him with problems. I will miss Reed next year, but know that he will continue to make gains in his knowledge. It has been a great year Reed. |

Mason Gunnaway 4M, Garrett Sturtz 5L, Justine Buckman 5LK |
Mason Gunnaway |
DETERMINED! That says it all about Mason. Determination to do one’s absolute best in everything tells you a lot about a person. Whether it is in the classroom, sports, or community, he gives 120%! It fascinates me how he never gets frustrated, he simply takes a step back and says, “I don’t understand this, how can I do it differently?” Throwing in the towel is never an option for Mason. It is not that everything comes easy to him; he works extremely hard for his accomplishments. It is exactly that positive attitude that will take him very far in life in whatever he chooses to do! Mason is also a model friend. Extreme kindness and caring are a part of what makes him such a good kid. His actions come from a patient and gentle heart that is expressed to everyone at ALL times. Mason is someone to watch as he grows up. Believe me we will see super things out of this young man! |
Garrett Sturtz |
I am nominating Garrett for the Kids of Character Award because of the outstanding job he does in class. Garrett is very conscientious about his work and around his peers. He is careful in completing his work, and asks questions to ensure that he understands the skill being taught. He is kind to his peers and is a good role model for the other kids in the room.
