Elementary Band - Overview

The Newton elementary band program is available to students in 5th and 6th grade. Students participating in the class receive individual or small group lessons and full group band rehearsals once each 6-day cycle.

 

Lessons and rehearsals are held on:

Day 1, 3, and 5 at Aurora Heights

Day 2 , 4, and 6 at Woodrow Wilson

 

Detaled schedules are posted in the band area and given to each homeroom teacher. During lessons and rehearsals students receive instruction on the following areas:

In addition to regular lessons and rehearsals, students participate in 2 concerts and 1 football game throughout the year and have the opportunity to attend a solo and ensemble contest.
