School Board Goals

 

2015 Vision

  • The community of Newton is informed about and involved in the school system. The entire community sees the proven link between effective staff development and constantly improving student learning. Every parent is an active partner in the success of their student and the district.

  • All of our schools are safe and caring environments. Community, board, staff and students are relentless in their pursuit of making this the best possible place for students to grow and learn. All NCSD schools are free of bullying and harassment.
  • Staff takes the initiative to fully realize the excellence within each student. Skills learned in the district professional development program enable the staff to effectively teach and advocate for every learner.
  • Newton attracts quality and enthusiastic educators committed to improving student learning. The NCSD ensures a skilled and caring staff which models high-level learning. Improved instruction and learning are anchored with the analysis of assessment. Data drives every decision.
  • Individual success planning for each student identifies strengths and needs providing a clear route to success.
  • The NCSD has exceeded all No Child Left Behind mandates.
  • The NCSD student enrollment has rebounded to a count of 3,950 students. The total number of students open-enrolled into the district is greater than the number of students open-enrolled out.
  • Newton students are fully challenged to be their best and have the curricular and extra-curricular opportunities to ensure the best is possible. All curricula are aligned. Curriculum maps are established, living documents and are linked to the district standards, benchmarks, and assessments.
  • Relevant and enriching experiences are provided for every learner. Every NHS student graduates with the knowledge and skills for success. Each graduate is equipped to be a productive member of society and to make a positive difference in the world.
